Gallery | Juror Juror: Michiel Daniel Juror's Statement "The
advantage of acrylic paint is that it dries fast. The disadvantage
of acrylic paint is that it dries fast."
Ray
Bravo - fellow student, California State University at Long Beach,
1969 Over the last twenty-five years, I have had the pleasure of being
invited to jury a large number of local, regional and national art
exhibitions.
Being a practicing artist myself, I find the jury process to be an
enjoyable, exciting, and extremely difficult task. The quality of
the work submitted for the International Society of Acrylic Painters,
10th Annual International Exhibition was exceptionally
strong, making this jury process unusually difficult. If not for the
restrictions of the exhibition space, I could have easily selected
twice the number of pieces and still maintained the very high quality
of this exhibition. The works selected for this exhibition clearly
demonstrate the versatility of the acrylic medium. I have tried to
pick strong, professional work that employs this medium to its best
advantage, using both the formal and conceptual elements to create
a unique work of art. The works range from "Photo Real" to
the abstract, non-objective and mixed media, mirroring the diversity
of the international art scene today. I am looking forward to seeing this show installed, it will be a wonderful
exhibition, and, I'm sure, a huge hit with the viewing public. It has
been a true pleasure to work with the people connected to ISAP, in
particular Kate Burridge, the Exhibition Director, for her tireless
work and professionalism. Michiel Daniel March, 2007
